Course Description

By appreciating the science of sleep, we can begin to problem-solve relevant strategies and adaptations in support of sleep dysregulation across the lifespan. While this course was originally designed for occupational therapists asking for help in supporting their clients, it is now being made available for anyone who is interested in making the most of how we spend 1/3 of our life.

 

Over 9 hours of pre-recorded learning + 90 minute live online Q & A sessions scheduled every 4 months.  Each participant is able to join one live online Q & A session.

Course Objectives

Clinicians who evaluate, support and enhance daily life function are constantly questioned by their clients, “How do I help my child or myself sleep?”. This series addresses this important question. Quality of sleep deeply impacts every single one of us, professionals included. Participants will be able to:

  1. Develop a preliminary understanding of the science of sleep

  2. Develop skills for assessment and analysis of sleep dysregulation across the lifespan

  3. Develop an appreciation of the relevance of treating sleep challenges through regulatory interventions

  4. Develop a rationale for and a repertoire of sensory strategies to support sleep challenges

  5. Develop an understanding of posture and movement challenges related to sleep

  6. Develop a toolbox of environmental adaptations to support sleep dysregulation

  7. Develop a preliminary understanding of alternative sleep interventions
